This month, ag-tech company EarthOptics welcomed Ryan Arends as the organization’s new Senior Vice President of Operations.
In his new role, Arends will be responsible for leading the successful expansion of the company as it scales for growth. He is tasked with building and managing the field operations team in addition to supporting the development of the company’s business strategy.
“While strategic and analytical, Ryan is a highly collaborative and engaging leader,” said Managing Director John Wright. “He is an excellent communicator with strong decision-making skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.”
From his Brigade Logistics Officer role with the US Army to his most recent position as the General Manager, US Operations and Global Operations Manager at Giant Oil Tools & Coatings, Arends brings more than two decades of operational experience with him to EarthOptics.
“Ryan is an extremely adaptable leader with a boots-on-the-ground management style,” said Managing Partner Jon Leafstedt. “He has a proven track record of success in widely varying, evolving environments – something EarthOptics will benefit greatly from as it continues to grow.”
Utilizing expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and sensor technology, EarthOptics maps the physical and chemical composition of farmland to provide soil health insights. The rapidly growing firm has been sought out by notable food-ag and energy companies as well as ag research institutions thanks to its technology’s capabilities.
