Kincannon & Reed principals Lisa Johnson and Jon Leafstedt congratulate Steve Adams on his role as Chief Operating Officer at Summit Sustainable Ingredients (Summit/SSI).
In his new role, Adams will work with the Board of Directors as he builds a high-performance team to execute key operational components crucial to scaling the business. He is tasked with establishing and cultivating a culture of collaboration and operational excellence at the organization.
“Steve is both agile and detail-oriented, having demonstrated success in scaling and developing efficient operations processes,” Johnson said. “His passion for milling combined with his willingness to roll up his sleeves will be invaluable during this critical time for SSI.”
Adams is responsible for the operational success of SSI, such as risk mitigation and strategic planning. This also includes the management of the construction projects taking place at a biorefinery location that was acquired in 2021 while simultaneously overseeing the existing biofuel production at the plant.
Summit’s plans for the location include constructing an ingredients plant and retrofitting the existing biorefinery to produce ethanol from wheat starch. Upon completion of the ingredients plant and final conversion, SSI will be one of the largest wheat milling facilities in North America.
In the twenty-plus years since he took a role with that exposed him to wheat flour milling, Adams has held several roles centered on operations within the sector. Prior to joining Summit, Adams was Director of Operations at The Mennel Milling Company where he oversaw seven manufacturing locations.
SSI is part of the Summit Agricultural Group portfolio. Summit Agricultural Group is a leading agribusiness investor in the United States and Brazil with assets across the agriculture, food, and renewable energy industries.
